Hi there Dave,

we place spring loaded pins with our placement machines all the time with pretty good
results. Our designers used a pin with a reasonable sized flange on it, and we bored
out one of our placement machine nozzles so that it sucks the pins up into the nozzle
and stops on the flange. We also had to mill out a deeper groove in one of our feeders
so that it could handle the height of the pin in the reel, but it goes pretty well.

The only major pitfall we have found is if the reel is mishandled, and the pins fall
over inside the packaging - we are trying to get the suppliers to change the dimensions
of the packaging to minimise this.

Best Regards,

Chris Murphy,
Tait Electronics
