Hey Graham,
We recently switched from a Gardiner formula RMA flux to Kester 186 and
186-18.
The chemistry we use in our PVC plumbed Tooltronics Ultra Clean II is Kyzen
XJN. My Division also has a couple of stainless steel Westek cleaners as
well. XJN has worked fine for typical boards but not all our stuff is
typical. I'm still working on a presoak to loosen up the tougher areas.
One concern I have is using a piece of equipment from a company which no
longer exists. There's no handy 800 number to call when I'm 'discovering'
something new. I'd stay away from Armakleen, our experience - it scales up
way too much and doesn't last very long, but I've never personally used it.
I would highly recommend holding out/begging for a machine with stainless
steel pipes. We have a 'plan' to retool the Tooltronics with stainless
steel for around $20k or so.
The latest is coming up with enough baskets for lighter/smaller boards which
float above the conveyor belt.
Later,
Hans
