Hey Steve,

I am currently deionizing city water (Lake Michigan water) using cation/anion columns.

My predecessors here had purchased a twin column system for closed-loop. It never worked right -- had to be regenerated every couple of hours -- so it was abandoned and just sitting idle for at least two years. With the help of my industrial water treatment consultant, I re-bedded the resin and re-plumed it to make city water into deionized water. Works like a charm.

I don't have a carbon bed before my columns; don't seem to need it. (Maybe that's part of the reason why the closed-loop never worked right!) My consultant never even suggested carbon filtration before the cation/anion columns.

If you want, I can give you my guy's name and phone number. He should be able to give you the straight story and help you in convincing the powers that be.

Good luck!

Mike
