While not attempting to answer for Werner, I can tell you the reasons that it
might irritate a number of people. If all the consultants or vendors use this
list for is a source of names and email addresses to market themselves to,
then I really think they violate the basic premise of this forum.

This list is intended (I think) as a forum for a free exchange of
information. When people like Werner Engelmaier, Phil Zarrow, Jim Moffit, and
consultants of their caliber contribute and post solutions to various
questions posed on the list, and are not using the list to gather email
addresses to launch a spam campaign. I am very grateful that they are
subscribers to this list...

I honestly think they're trying to help (and yes, maybe advertise a bit of
their expertise should you ever need it, but it's never in your face), and
don't use the list to gather email addresses in which to only market
themselves...they contribute something valuable to the list every once in a
while.

I'll tell you this, should I ever have the need for a consultant, I know who
I'm gonna call...that should speak to those that try to manipulate me with
their unwanted spam.

I compare those sort of individuals that gather our email addresses to the
dreaded phone solicitors, door-to-door salesmen, and junk-mail that fills my
mailbox...I throw that crap in the trash every single day. Always seem to be
selling you something, at the most inopportune times (like right in the
middle of supper), that you didn't really ask for, or want to buy in the
first place.

But again, just as Jack said, you can always hit the delete button (which I
do a lot).

My Opinion...
