Greetings 'netters
We have decided to bring back electronic assembly to our company. My
questions/comments concern controlling production PWB fab data, and I would
like to hear about your methods and processes. Our drafting standards
address typical drawings well, but not drawings with associated electronic
data. Respond off-line if appropriate.

We currently use Allegro, but are moving to OrCad. Current board design is
for development, not production. The development PWB draftsman keeps files
local.

1) Is control as simple as reserving a directory on the network and
restricting access?
2) What is done to make sure the drawing matches the fab data after
revisions are made?
3) Fab data will reside separately from drawing data for redundancy.
4) Is FTP or e-mail preferred for fab data transfer? Or is this fab house
specific?
5) Are there software packages that automate all/some of this process?
