Hi ya'll...
I gotta silly question, can wire bonding be done by hand? We've got a sales
guy that's trying to drum up some business for us, call me last week and
asked if we had the capability to do wire bonding here. I told him no-way,
don't have a wire bonding machine here, and that we weren't really set-up to
do something like that here anyway.
Well he calls again today, and said that he understands that we don't have an
automated wire bonder, but the potential customer said that the volume that
they were looking at, it should be something that we could do by hand. I
said; "WHAT? Wire bond by hand? NO-WAY!" I think our sales guy understood
"manual" wire bonding, to mean "by hand" like you would hand solder a
component. I did a NET search and found a lot of manual wire bonding stations
but they were pretty sophisticated looking machines...nothing about wire
bonding by "hand" though. Sorry about the dumb question...
