For the last year, my workhorse printer has been an HP Deskjet 1120C
printer. It prints B size, draft mode is fast and is usually good enough
quality for checkplots, and, of course, it will print in color. It's got
three paper feeds, one of which is a straight-through feed which helps with
printing transparencies. It's a lot cheaper than a B-size laser, not even
to mention a color laser.
