We didn't consciously change anything. It occurred and disappeared in our
facility and a subcontractor. They couldn't handle matte and we couldn't
handle gloss. Both used the same boards from the same suppliers and there
was a conscious effort to match the 2 processes.

We ran the tests in both the facilities. Several weeks later, into our
second round of experiments, the solder balls disappeared. Haven't seen them
since.

I will dig up the data and send it along off line.
