small YAGlasers (Lasertech AG/Switzerland and Haas/Germany) for seamwelding of MCM packages, even smaller Q-swith YAGlasers (ESI/Portland) for trimming, CO2 (Rofin-Sinar/Germany) for ceramic drilling and scribing, UV-lasers (Lumonics/US) for vias. There are lots of literature that give you theoretics and basics how to do, of course not exact parameter install for the specific machine, that has to be done with a lot of experimentation. But if you don't have the background, you will never understand what you are doing (keyhole, HAZ, plasma plume direction. choice of protection gas etc) . You worked with lasers Carey? You will wish you never said that. I will bombard you with such questions also. No-no, easy doc, just felt for a FryDay joke.
Girlie, if you need books I can give you more tips. But why not call your neighbour (Haas Laser)?

Unless these are very recent books, these do not enlighten for PWB via
drilling. Also, it doesn't sound that the 100W YAG probably was used for
PWB via drilling. If so, I'd like to learn more. If not, what are you
using it for??? resistor trimming? Still sounds very powerful!

Interesting to see a laser question, long since. What are you going to
drill, I guess you think of laser vias, don't you?
