Speaking for me only, It just doesn't work that way. Somehow, no matter how
difficult, we must get management involved. Monetary justification often is
the way, but better training and all the rest must be used to change the way
people think and act. After all, we all are managers of the processes we
supposedly own and "know" so much about.
I'm going through the same thing now at a "huge" CM and it blows me away how
little "management" knows about what is needed to set up and run a "new" set
of 6 or so lines. The old ways die hard and it's no different wherever you
go.
I started out doing DFM, but that was only rhetoric. So, I decided to start
improving rework and proving how much that costs. It's painfully slow but
it's got to be done.
