Paul:

You have hit on a subject that I have a specific interest in. AS a supplier
of multi-layer boards since 1979 I have found that the end user has little
interest in how boards are built or, more importantly, how large an impact
their design can have on performance and profitability.

I believe in the Charles Deming model of co-operative engineering and have
worked to conduct my service offerings in that manner. I can tell you I do
not get alot of support because it means the customer can't just send a
design and a P.O.. They have to work too!!

I believe the best way to serve a customer and keep them for the long term
is to provide this value added service. For the most part I have found
customers AND vendors just don't want to be bothered. But, they both want
the highest profit result from this paradigm. It just does not work.

What have you found?
