I also receive the digest form of TechNet inputs.
When the original texts are included with each
response on a particular subject, it becomes very
time-consuming and tedious to sift through the
extraneous mix of non-pertinent information.

True, I select the items from the digest that I wish
to receive by return e-mail, but that does nothing
to limit the input to viable information.  The "cut"
feature cannot be use to edit a received
e-mail....WYSIWYG, you know?

Efficient use of the subject line is an especially
important aide to digest subscribers, as well as
direct forum subscribers.  An issue that has past
current discussion can be brought up again and again
with the re-use of the subject line; the original
message is available in the forum archives and
recognized by its subject line.

Digest subscription is a tidy way to get the news
without having to open/close and/or delete umpteen
separate messages all day long.  It does not suit
everyone, but it is the only way I can stay tuned.
For my part, I would prefer to have the least amount
of non-significant information to go through to get
what I want, so please consider RE: without
enclosing the text to which it refers.
