It is best to create your own part numbers. Since it is desirable to have
multiple sources, you will run into problems if you use the manufacturer's
part number.

It may be useful to distinguish between finished items, sub-assemblies,
components and raw materials, but it is a mistake to put too much
information into the part number. Use the descriptor for this.
