     Nick,
           I'd hope you were catching these after etch and not at final.
     AOI after etch is the way to go there. At final I'm not sure what you
     can do besides a close visual inspection. Assuming panels/circuits are
     coated with mask.
           Electrically if you test each circuit for impedance you would
     probably catch the nicks but I don't know how you would fare with
     dishdowns. Also to do impedance calculations on all the traces would
     be tedious to say the least.
           If you are seeing alot of fallout for this at final I'd spend my
     efforts upstream to determine what was causing it especially if its
     occuring after etch.

Is there any testing method to detect and sort out the following defective PCB
in final QC section.
(1)nick cicuit.
(2)dish down cicuit.
