O.K. Steve,
I hereby claim my 'Albert-of-the-Year' award for services to
retrieval of useless information.
I believe D-PAK stands for Deca-Watt Package - unless anyone
suggests better.

Nah...it ain't that. D-Pak packaging is usually used in power transistors
that looks like a TO-220 that's had it's legs chopped-off and formed into a
gull-wing shape:
