Try a "brush" type conveyor. This is a powered roller style conveyor with a
spiral of conductive polymer bristles on each roller. As the board travels
down the conveyor it is moved to one side rail which lines up with the fixed
rail on the next piece of equipment. They work well to feed automated test
handlers from a mesh belt washer.

The outfeed is going to have to interface with a manual insertion 'slide
line', but with some kind of buffering, perhaps roller-chain inbetween. Some
kind of funneling action will be needed to center the boards into that
buffer coveyor - has anybody seen that done with roller or flat belt
conveyor as opposed to the vibrating table type?

Hi Justin!

However wacky? You sayin' I'm a wacky sorta guy? (DAMN! Even the technetters
got me figgured out...crap!) Anyhoo, whatcha' wanna outfeed to would be my
first question? To a magazine unloader? To a cleaner? (If you're washing
things that is..) or just someplace where you can have a bit of time to
collect everything and put the boards in tilt racks or whatnot? There's
these
little merry-go-round things that you can buy that will spin in whatever rpm
you set and accumulate the boards for a bit 'till someone gets down at the
end of the oven and starts racking the boards up, but I think you'll wind-up
with a few boards with some damaged components after a while from them
landing on top of each other. Then there's what's called a vibrating table
that has conductive "plastic fingers" (if you will) with a arm type "guide"
to funnel the boards into a magazine unloader which pushes each board into a
magazine...
Simplimatic comes to mind as the vendor of such equipment...I used these at
a
past company, they were about $2,500 a table. I'll check back on who it
really was for sure if you want me too...but with that you still also need
the unloader at considerably more money if you go that route...you can
figure
at least $10,000-20,000 to completely automate unloading from strictly a
mesh-belt. BUT, if you wanna get your boards into a cleaner outta reflow, we
did things pretty simply at a memory company I worked at in the past. We
even
fed two ovens from the mesh belts into one cleaner by just using flat-belt
conveyers...it was easy. Just need to syncronize the belt travel on the flat
belt conveyers to match your oven belt speeds so you don't make a big
traffic
jam of boards...not that difficult. Didn't need no 90-degree turn stations
or
anything! (check my ascii-cad drawing below...sure wish we could do
attachments on the technet!) BUT, we still needed someone to rack the boards
up outta the cleaner...oh well!
