Having Kemper here and discovered the charcoal filter is actually on timer
(not so much on saturation detection, which would be rather expensive) .
Than the siren tells you chuck the us$+/-500 filter out .
Having the outlet back to room is not recommended because of the heat and
some odor still prevails ;
and letting the air out you do not have to be so tight = any car exhaust
will be much worst .
So you can save money being sensible about the charcoal , = reset the timer
.
Different story on HEPA ; make absolutely sure of prefilter seal ; otherwise
this as expensive item fills in a week through the direct leak .
The prefilter change time is when the drag reaches the red line ; if that
does not move ; HEPA goes as well ;
if that does not move it, carbon is full too .
The seals (foam tape mostly) seem almost on purpose (better sales)
underdesigned (as you slide in the HEPA; you drag and disturb the foam tape
; back especially ; it's an ergonomical challenge to seat all the filters
right) .
Same experienced with Pace ; and likely all the rest of them .

Subject: Re: [TN] Solder Station Fume Extractors
We've been evaluating fume extractors and have found Airflow Systems to
have a good line. They recommend a pre-filter, 99.97% DOP HEPA filter and
2" charcoal final filter for solder, flux and alcohol fumes. We have been
trying a loaner from them and have found it to be very effective.
