Just a bit of curiosity - How may people out there have amalgum filliings in their teeth?

Being a mixture of mercury, silver and tin, in a corrosive environment, subject to mechanical abrasion - and certainly impending ingestion - it would seem that some of the efforts to remove other metals (e.g. lead) from the biosphere are a little mis-directed.

Certainly, how could one find a matter any "closer to home", without actually sucking on a bar of solder?

Why is there not a vocal public outcry to recall all teeth with amalgum fillings and have them replaced with plastic fillings?

Oh gee, I forgot to mention that I have seen articles that some of the adhesives used for non-metal fillings can leach female hormone-like compounds - which is okay for you gals, but what about us guys?

Are dentists offices forced to deal with hazardous waste disposal permits, etc?

I certainly have a few more questions to ask the next time I pay the dentist a visit!

Steve
