Richard,

The 356A spec is an enhanced format of 356 which adds a considerable amount
of information. This includes: Circuit routing - circuit widths -
soldermask info - longer net names - nets that require high voltage test -
support for impedance.

There are a few more. The spec has been available for a couple of months now.

Fortunately, I was able to attend the BBT conference in San Jose, which was
a ground breaking gathering for us in the BBT community. Exposing not only
356A but some of the identical perils that many of us are confronted with
especially with HDI and RAMBUS on our heels.

Our introduction of 356A is just the beginning. We must rely on the CAD
industry to support the efforts and intent of this test format. We cannot
let them let this spec fall by the wayside as with 356. I'm sure most of us
have third party software to convert databases to 356. But the ultimate
goal is for design software to output 356A. If anyone disagrees with this
statement, please contact me.
