Hi Loan!

How ironic that you pose this question about the future, because this
afternoon at around 3:00pm, my boss is having myself and the other engineer
sit down with him to "brainstorm" the next 5-year "Technology Roadmap" for
our company. This is something corporate has asked my boss to do.

There's a few things that I can think of that we'll need to get ready for;

1. As much as I think it's a big crock, we'll probably be doing component
attachment
with something other than tin/lead...what that will be I haven't the
slightest idea.

2. I think we'll all see much more microBGA here in just the next couple of
years, along with direct chip attach...

3. I think we'll see more sophisticated automation due to the fact that the
upcoming packages will only be able to be assembled and manufactured by
machines...people won't be able to perform things precisely enough. So I see
a big boom for people with skills dealing with high tech sophisticated
machines...

4. I'm waiting for my Dick Tracy watch that has a computer, phone with video
capabilities, and Televison all in one...hehehe
