We switched to Dupont Vertrel XMS Plus. In a vapor cleaner. We had to do extensive
modification to the vapor cleaner. XMS is much more expensive. Modifications were made
to the water evaporator, compressor line pass through and we added a super chiller to
cool the air in the tank.

Cleaning times had to be increased (robot controlled batch system) with longer pre
cooling since the stuff won't condense on at less than 70 degrees or so.

The material is close to 111 in terms of effect on plastics. In general is it not as
aggressive as 111.

Right now we are trying to identify a white residue left on solder fillets formed from
and RMA solder paste. The white stuff does not seem to have any ionic content. It is
soluble in alcohol and water but does not change the solutions resistivity.

There is no white residue on fillets formed in wave solder using Alpha Metals SA flux
. . . obviously we are not doing class 3 stuff.
