Oops...I meant P for Phosphorous not Ph as in acidity nor Pb for lead. That's
my mistake for the year.

Jason,
I seem to be having some problem understanding what you are trying to say.
Here are some questions for you.

What is Ph? You aren't confusing this with Pb, the symbol for lead are you?
If so, then are you talking about mixing solders of different alloy
compositions?! This would not be the original situation that Jim put forth.

I would like you to explain to me, chemically, how mixing two solders of
the same alloy composition with just slightly different purity levels is
going to cause even more dross than 100% of the more impure one.

What are these low drossing chemical additives you are talking about? These
are the materials that are put on top the molten solder in the solder pot,
right? You are not inferring that suppliers are actually trying to supply
organic additives in the bar solder are you?

regards,
Bev Christian
