Jim,

I am not sure I am getting a correct interpretation of what you are
describing here. My first reaction is to remember that a good solder joint
starts with a good mechanical connection. Also, I am not sure that you would
be able to see the solder joint good enough to determine if it was good or
not. Again, this is based on my understanding of what you describe here.
