When asked or when I have the opportunity to give input before fab, I
specify 0.040" round SOLID with 0.150" dia soldermask clearance. Too
much bigger than 0.060" dia. you start to lose seach area size with
     some machinery.

the worst type of fiducials that I typically have to deal with are
Donut type or using Vias for fiducials, since I am not an OEM I cannot
always control the features I have to work with.

I use Universal, Siemens, Mydata, MPM & DEK and 0.040" solid round
fiducials has never been an issue.

To all,

What is the recommended size and shape of a fiducial?
I believe I.P.C. recommends 0.040" round.

What are your thoughts?

Frustrated
