Ioan,

Well from my perspective, electronics is here to stay! Possibly in a much
different format than what you might see today. The manufacturing of
electronics will also be here.

My viewpoint of manufacturing electronics is that it will become more
automated because of the simplicity of the circuits of the future as you
noted. I don't think it will be in the next 5 years or even 10. There are
still many items that are TH for various reasons. Logic will continue to
shrink and compact but the supporting I/O, switching and power functions
will still need to be dealt with. Until we get to a point where everything
is operated by 5V @ 10ma, I am sure electronic manufacturing will be
surviving.

So my 2 cents worth here is to be sure to involve yourself in automating the
process and you will have a pretty good future with electronics
manufacturing.
