The IPC Web site for lead-free electronics assemblies is up and running. Visit
www.leadfree.org to get the best information on lead-free electronics assemblies,
technical papers and articles and the schedule and registration information for
IPCWorks '99, featuring an International Summit on Lead-Free Electronics Assemblies.
Features you will be able to find on www.leadfree.org include the Lead Free
Grapevine, which will be a running compilation of news and information received by
IPC regarding lead-free electronics assemblies. IPC will also be posting a live
survey for users to complete to get an idea of the industry's stance on lead-free
electronics assemblies. The results of this survey will be presented at IPCWorks '99
and will be used for the development of the IPC Roadmap on Lead-Free Electronics
Assemblies.
As soon as the on-line survey is available a notice will be sent to the IPC listservs
and IPC Official Representatives.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
IPC LAUNCHES LEAD-FREE WEB SITE
Northbrook, IL 07/22/99
The electronics assembly industry now has a site to visit on the Internet for
information on lead-free alternatives. IPC -- Association Connecting Electronics
Industries announced today the launch of its new Web site: www.leadfree.org.
The site will include articles on lead-free electronics assemblies IPC has published
in industry trade magazines, or presented at IPC and other industry technical
conferences, and a Surface Mount Council white paper on lead-free electronics
assemblies.
"This is another effort to meet the IPC Board of Directors' goal of IPC educating and
informing people about lead-free electronics assembly alternatives," says IPC vice
president of standards and technology Dave Bergman.
Updates on the IPC roadmap for the implementation of lead-free electronics assemblies
will be posted on the site. Updates on any standards on lead-free electronic
assemblies will also be posted.
Bergman says the site will also be a valuable tool for finding information on future
IPC events addressing lead-free electronics assemblies.
IPC has made the site interactive, holding a survey for companies to fill out to
gauge the industry's knowledge and capabilities regarding lead-free electronics
