Dear Emil,

The reason for oxide weight gain testing is to insure that the coating does
not become excessively thick, which will lead to reduced wetting and
encapsulation of the oxide coating by the resin. This in turn will reduce
bond strength. The thickness measurement is an excellent process control
technique and is easily implemented in production.

Subject: [TN] Black Oxide Thickness Control

        Hi Technetters,
Our supplier for our new Black Oxide chemical was discussing about
the Black Oxide Thickness Control, the method of Weight gain and Weight loss
test. I just need some elaboration of the principles behind these subject
and some specifications. I could not find some technical writings at this
moment...
thanks in advance for the help
