Folks, TechNet has proven to be a valuable tool for many people in it's approximately
four years of existence.  Our web-site stats show that the archives continue to be
visited regularly also.

We must ask your consideration on several issues.

Please defer the virus, chain letter and similar subject to appropriate newsgroups
and chat rooms so that TechNet keeps the technical focus. The latest virus problems
are significant and we know of several LARGE companies with computer systems that
were effectively shut down last week, just as they were with Melissa and it's clones.
 However, the topic has been well covered in the news and if a user hasn't heard of
the issues until posted on TechNet, they have more problems than we can fix. Hugo,
Gayatri or I are open to general posting suggestions and if it is truly something
that needs to be promulgated, please let us do it as an ADMIN posting in a manner
that doesn't elicit 10 "I agree" postings.

Second, please set your e-mail systems so that they don't generate replies when you
read or delete msgs without reading.  If you can't figure out how to do that, we will
need to ask you to unsubscribe.

Just for info, we've had 14 messages just today of this nature.  That equates to over
25,000 message through our mail server.
