Lets do better than that, if anyone opens an attachment, that clobbers their computers, be sure to let the unwitting sender of that bomb know that this is the case. Until the coast is clear, any e-mail, I send will have the time and date manually typed in, and if there is a legitimate attachment, the name, exact size, and date will be typed in manually, I will not use winzip to compress the file, as this is one of the virus's tricks, masquerading as a zip file, which innocently acts as a corrupt archive, reassuring the user that nothing was done with the corrupt data. Very sleazy, indeed. If everyone does the same, TechNet will avoid the bombardment, until the servers start weeding it out on their end, acting sort of as a virtual condom!

Reminder to all:

There is a very obnoxious virus running around, and the sudden rush of email
with attachments is a sign that it may be out there on TechNet!!

I worked with a friend of mine this weekend whose company got clobbered by
it and it is no fun!!

Just be real sure of any email with attachments that you get. If you get one
and you are not sure, just do like I do, erase it. The subject of the email
may look very real. My friends computer ended up sending an email out that
was a couple of months old with a legitimate Subject.

What it does is get into your email, Outlook specifically, and starts
sending itself to others in your address book without recording any
indication of having sent anything in the Outbox. Then it begins to set all
of the MS Office files on your computer to a file length of '0'.

Good luck to all!!

By the way, I will not send any attachments to anyone via TechNet, so if you
see one attached to my address, erase it!
