Besides the ESD aspect, the added benefit of making it out of aluminum, is
that the fixtures will not wear out easily, if you have it anodized to
harden the metal, once the machining is done, and the fit and tolerances are
verified!

Eric,
        You should spend the extra money and make the fixtures from
aluminum, ESD safe acrylic or one of the many conductive composite
materials. This will alleviate any concerns of your ESD engineer.
