Glenn,

Just to mention a few addtional "monetary" things... discounts on video
training materials, training classes, tcehnical papers, any of the various
meetings and Expo, and proceedings from meetings; 6 copies of the monthly
IPC Tech Review to each member company; and (my favorite) copies of the IPC
Membership Directory, my most-used phone book.

Besides that, though, is the opportunity to become involved with committees
and subcommittees in areas of interest to your company AND to make a
positive contribution to specs, standards and other documents of value to
your company and the industry as a whole. Not only is there the huge
benefit of learning while doing, but also the real benefit of contacts made,
benchmarking of processes, etc., in essence, the access to a vast network of
industry experts to be called upon as needed.

IPC also keeps its members updated with regard to environmental, trade
issues, and other governmental activities of interest and concern to the
industry. Participation in the IPC Captial Hill Day is one way to make a
REAL
difference in gov't - ask anyone who has participated. Don't want to spend
the money or take the time to go to WAsh? Take the info supplied in the
newsletter, plus the form letters sent occasionally from IPC and access
congress people that way.

Hope this helps. One of my favorite statements is that IPC is NOT an entity
onto its own - it is member companies and individuals creating the documents
and other materials necessary for an industry to not just exist but thrive
in the business world.

Need to hear more? You probably will from the other IPC members on TechNet,
of which there are many!

Patty Goldman
IPC Chairman, TAEC

Subject: [TN] IPC Membership

Hello all,

I'm trying to outline the benefits of continuing membership in IPC. We're
not
active on any committee, but do make a great deal of use of the standards.
Can anyone offer some advice on the benefits of continued membership that I
can present to management?

Here's what I have so far:
1) Discount on standards: Measurable cost savings
2) Web link to company: Potential business opportunity.
3) TechNet: But, don't have to a member.

Thanks for any input.

Glenn
