The problem (AISI) is that the cap is made from polypropylene. This can
produce high values of static (so I am told).
If you were to get the cap manufactured out of an anti-static material
all should be fine.

Potentially a static charge could be built up into the cap due to
friction/movement during carriage/handling
and then this could then be discharged into the pins of the connector
causing damage to the circuitry.
(Well that's probably what they are thinking).

Consider either not having the cap or getting an antistatic one,
spraying the caps with AS spray yourself would be too big a hassle
or maybe if the caps made specially then have it made out of another
material (or something).
