I have an electronic assembly (power supply) produced utilizing full ESD
protection, shipped in static shielding bags, etc. The circuit board
assembly is mounted in a metal chassis and has a multi-wire connector
that exits out of one side of the chassis. The end of the connector
contains several pins that are attached to the circuit board assembly
inside. We place a polypropylene "cap" over the end of the connector to
protect the threads and the pins within the connector. Our customer is
questioning the placement of this cap over the pins due to an ESD concern
 - static charge???

What could I tell them? Am I wrong for placing this cap, or this type of
cap over the pins due to an ESD concern?
