Hi Kat, I would steer you away from the water soluble mask, it has the
tendency to clog Filters in the water purification system. Ted made a
suggestion to use a peelable mask instead of a water soluble mask, good
suggestion! But this also calculates into labor in a production
environment. Now my two cent's worth, use a fixture or pallet to mask off
any given area's of a circuit board! The fixture will mask off bottom side
smd's, while exposing only the parts that need to be waved. It's a fast and
simple solution to a majority of mixed tech PCB's. This will decrease the
labor that is involved with the manufacturing of the circuit card, and,
increase the through put through the wave solder line! If you need any
help, give me a call off line.

Subject: [TN] Plated Through-Hole

Hello everybody,
This is my first time mailing to the list.

I'll get straight to the point - you see, a product of my company has a
plated through-hole that must not be soldered.
The past solution was to cover the whole thing with a kapton tape before
running it through the wave. Now we have suggestions of using a plug or
water-soluble masking tape.
I was wondering if any of you have any experience in this matter and could
share anything with me.

Thanks in advance.

Kat LEE
