Hi Shaun -
I believe a company called Accuspec has a glass plate kit for calibrating
placement equipment.  You can save a great deal by designing your own and
finding someone local to print it on glass for you.  The spray adhesive does
not work as well as you would suppose.  It's difficult to obtain an even
coating and it does not secure the components adequately for analysis.
Double stick tape works the best (use a razor blade and a print roller to
minimize air pockets).  That blue Nitto stuff that was mentioned recently
also works very well.  Good luck!
