Thanks for the amusing post, Richard.

"CE" marking is required on different kinds of products, denoting that the
product passes certain regulations/tests.

Besides, electrical/electronic products, *toys* also need CE marking - which is
where this one might fit in.

Of course, in his investigations (in which I am surprised he did not include
you!), your product safety man might need some protective clothing or apparatus
when handling and operating the device. Industrial standard nose clips will
also require CE marking. <g>
