We are trying to reach a happy medium; easier and more timely for our users to post
msgs; pretty fair job of locking out the spammers.

We choose not to lock-out users based on their ISP; why they choose any ISP is their
complete choice, and your forum needs the support of everyone. Any posts sent to
TechNet from an address that is not a registered member of the forum is rejected with
an advisory msg. The spammers send to hundreds of thousands of addresses. They
don't review msg rejects. If they should happen to get subscribed and try to spam,
we'll see who it is and manually remove them, plus put a filter on so they can't
resubscribe.

This change-over has not been without a few glitches, as you've all noticed. We
think those are all pretty well resolved, but there is always a possiblity that you
may have trouble posting under any of the following conditions:

1. You forward a posting to someone at a different address and they try to post a
reply; it won't work.
2. Your "outgoing" e-mail address has changed since you signed on. You'll still be
receiving posts because your mail administrator probably has an alias set up for your
old account name, but the address on msgs you send is different. You'll get a reject
msg. If that is the case, you need to do two actions. First, send your reply to me
directly at [log in to unmask] and I'll assure it gets placed on the forum; two,
resubscribe when logged on to your current e-mail account; and three, to stop
receiving double posts, send a msg to our forum administrator, Gayatri, with as much
info as you remember about your old address. She will find that old address and
manually remove it.

Your IPC is pleased to be able to offer TechNet and the other forums for your use,
and we will work with you you assure that you get the greatest value from them.

Jack,

I am just wondering what caused the change. <snip>
