Hello Dave,

Just guessing here, but is the reason you want to convert a gerber to a PDF
file, is to be able to show a gerber image or show something about a gerber
image to somebody that may not be real skilled with gerber files, or doesn't
have gerber viewing software? The only reason I'm guessing that is that Adobe
Acrobat Reader files are normally just used for viewing or printing...can't
edit on 'em.

But if that's what you want to do, that is be able to convert a gerber image
to a file that someone else can view without special software, is do what I
do. I use Lavenir Viewmate and bring a gerber image up, hit the "Print
Screen" key on my keyboard and that copies whatever the monitor has on it. I
then open up a graphics editor program, (I use Paint Shop Pro) and do a
"Edit, Paste as new image" and I have the gerber viewer screen. I then can
crop out all the toolbar stuff and have just the image of the board gerbers.
You can then save it as a *.bmp, *.gif, *.jpg whatever you want...and anybody
can view it.

I do this a lot to create my production documentation, rework instructions,
etc., etc....
