Fellow TechNet er's
As a add on to my request below, I undersatand at the IPC conference a
company showed a legend ink printing system using ink jet ( I think ) to do
legend ink printing versus screen printing. Can any one assit with the
name and or know where I could find out about this system.
We are interested in learning about the printing requirements on PWB's.
Specifically the variable printing that is currently printed on a board,
information we believe is known as "legend printing". My understanding is
the "legend" printing indicates the components locations, part number,
company name or anything that needs to be printed. I understand the
printing is a screen printing application and that there are some systems
developed by Pentax that prints on the board using an "ink jet" technology.
I would appreciate any assistance the members can provide as to:
manufacturers of the ink ( US AND WW )
types of ink available
volume of ink used
screen printing suppliers
current problems with the inks...is the resolution acceptable
what improvements are required
is the screen process expensive from a time point of view
are there problems with the time and expense to produce, clean and store
the screens
Would there be a market for a digital technology that would allow for a
rapid, direct printing technology that eliminates time, the storage of
screens and the screen cleaning process that provide high quality print.
I would appreciate any assistance to the above questions. I would
appreciate the opportunity to speak to any of the respondents via the
telephone. I look forward to the response.
