Hi Tomaso,
Another option is for you to send your components to our facility in
California where we specialize in ball attach and reballing services.
Our minimum lot charge is $50 for up to three components and the price
per component goes down significantly with volume. We have an automated
ball attach machine built by RVSI/Vanguard for lot sizes in the 1000+
piece range. We also have robotic wave soldering systems we use for
deballing. Much better than manual methods. We can do Ceramic BGAs
with high lead balls, micro BGAs, and solder columns for converting BGAs
into column grid arrays.

Subject: [TN] BGA solder ball replacement options?

Colleagues,

We have to find a way to replace solder balls on small quantities of BGA
devices, and I wonder what is available on the market. There might be
just
one unit or up to perhaps fifty units per lot.

The BGAs are of various sizes, and pitches, and ball sizes.

Is there a machine which can do this job for us? Can you suggest
manufacturers names, and give a guess at the price range.

Are there subcontractors who offer a ball replacement service - and fast
turnaround? Again I would be grateful for any pointers from those of
you who
have experience of this work.

TIA....

Tomaso
