How does your company define the critical area for the PCB's
goldfingers? Can someone tell me what does IPC-A-610 means when it
states that " Critical area of 6.4mm is determined by an average of
4.1mm contact clearance and 2.3 mm for variation and possible play."
My company's current standard defines critical area as 0.355" from the
edge of the connectors. The last company I worked at was using the mid
80% of the goldfinger's length, meaning that the top and bottom 10%s are
considered as non-critical area.
Which one is more correct to the IPC or industry requirement? Thanks
