Sandra,
I have manufacturing capabilities for both peel and stick, or
glue down t/c , down to 0.001" dia wire. Let me know if I can help

Subject: [TN] Thermocouples on Hard Drives
Date: Thursday, April 15, 1999 8:44PM

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to best measure temperature of
hard
drive critical components?

I am working from a more macro level, assembling hard drives into
swappable
sleds in electronic enclosures. Enclosure design may or may not be
providing sufficient air flow past the hard drive HDA, and other chips
commonly identified as U14, U5, etc.

I am duct-taping stiff thermocouple wires onto the chip outer surfaces,
and
flipping the drive over and mounting it onto a sled (the thermocouples
and
exposed chips are wrapped by my metal sled). I'm then taking the other
end
of the wires, and with K connections, using a Fluke 52.

Duct tape is horrendous for a thousand reasons.
Adhesive with activator won't hold the stiff wire tip in place long
enough
to cure.
I'm looking into thermocouple wires with self-adhesive tabs.

Any added suggestions I'd greatly appreciate.

Thank you,
Sandra Davis
