<< Hi,

does anybody use solder oxide reducing powder into the pot of the wave

I would need some evaluation of this kind of stuff.

Does it really help in reducing the dross?

The combination I could use right away is Sn63Pb37 from Multicore and
 Kleenox "P" OR-904P from Electrovert.
Do the solder and the powder have to match somehow?

Is anti-oxide powder a current practice? Any "side effects"?

 Many thanks, Ioan>>

Hi Loan!

I use Kleenox "P", but not as a "dross reducer", but more to help me keep from
throwing good solder away when I do my pot de-drossing. Any dross prevention
capabilities it has is probably gone by the time it melts completely...which
is maybe an hour or so.

The way I use it is to get all the dross gathered up in an area in the pot
(usually on one side of the pot) and then sprinkle about a tablespoon over the
pile of dross I have sitting there. Work it in a bit, let it smoke and melt
for a bit, and then go ahead and scoop your dross out to throw away. You'll
find that all that will be there is pure oxides...it'll look just like dirt,
no solder mixed in at all. Don't use too much of it, it'll start caking on the
pot surfaces.
