There are different design criteria for mil and commercial computer
products. For example, usually, the environmental classification for
commercial lap top is office environment with limited out door exposure (<
20 % of its life time with temperature change limit to low rate). The mil
computer most likely is 100% out door classification with extream
temperature range and required to survive with fast temperature change. You
don't have to try the commercial grade in the field in order to find out it
doesn't work. Just compare the two specification should reveal enough
difference to calculate where the $ goes. Hopefully, someone is making
smart choice for our boys/girls in the field.
