For your information, resins have been the standard reclaim method for PCB
shops since the 70's. Concentrations of less than 10 ppb are possible with the
correct flow rate and resin volume.

Resins are strong base resins. Any one will do. Traditionally, Rohm and Hass
IRA-400 has been the resin of choice but most resin manufacturers make an
equivalent resin that is more than good enough for gold recovery.

The resin has a very strong affinity for the gold cyanide complex and will kick
off any free cyanide as it fills. You should use a 2 column system connected
together in lead/lag configuration. Monitor the gold concentration between the
columns. When the gold level rises so the out is equal to the in, it is full and
you can send it to reclaim. The lag column moves to the lead and fresh resin is
added to the end. A 3 column system can polish to a very low level. You
should use one cu. ft. of resin for evert 2 gpm.
