Hello,
For SOIC Gull Wing land Pattern Design, which "F" dimension does the
IPC-SM-782 intend one to use to plug into the formula A = F - K? The
manufacturer's "max body width" or "min body width" or "mid point between
the max and min body width"
IPC-SM-782 6.6 Land Pattern Design for Gull Wing Devices -- Small outline
integrated Circuits (SOIC) states; "because of great variation in
dimensions between the heels of these components, it is better to use the
body width (dimension F, fig. 6-13) than the gap between the heels
(dimension E) as the reference dimension in the formulating land pattern
design of SOICs."
The recommended land pattern guidelines for an SOIC is as follows: A = F -
K where K = constant; (0.25mm).
Thanks, Rick
