Hi Achim,
So far no real general replacement solutions for tin-lead solders have been
found.
If these laws you speak of will in fact be enacted, it is possible that Europe
reverts back to an electronic backwater similar to what it was in
telecommunications when the national post directorates controlled and stifled
communications.
I certainly hope that wiser and more informed heads can prevent some misguided
burocrats to enact such a 'Schildbürger Streich.' We here in the USA are of
course not immune from stupid burocrats enacting emotion-based, rather than
fact-based laws. We just wasted 50 billion (1000 million) dollars on asbestos
abatement.
It certainly is wise of our industry to look for solutions, but laws should be
enacted after you find them, not before.
