     Paul: While I'm not really a DFM guy, I will put in my two cents for
     DFT. If you are doing to sweat out (or borrow) a DFM document, have
     your Test Engineering crew, especially the poor people who support
     your ICT equipment, create a Design for Testability document.

     A good DFT guideline will cover mechanical information as well as
     electrical and are typically driven by test fixture limitations.

     Examples (but not a full list!):

     - Tooling hole locations, size, keepout areas around, plating
     - Spacing of test pads, definition of probe-able pad size and
       composition
     - Spacing to edge of board, between tall components
     - Max size for test fixtures
     - Component (type) placement on board side

     Your Test Engineers can also gang up on your Design guys and put in
     little tidbits like using pull-up and pull-down resistors on enable
     lines instead of hard wiring to VCC/GND, etc.

     If you're not into manufacturing and testing your own boards, hit up
     your board shop... they should be able to supply you a DFM/DFT
     document.

     Good Luck on your project. If your test people need some hints on a
     DFT document, have them e-mail me direct.

Dear fellows ;

Finally I got cornered from all sides and told by all that instead of
pitiful glances and sour grins upon our creations design reviews it would be
nicer if I'd compile A Design For Manufacturability files and pass them on
our design guys ;
so they have something relevant to hold on when dreaming up the circuits .

Before I get onto this chore :
and I realize it's usually specific to field applied :
is there anything I could scavenge; utilize; adapt; or go by ;
or would somebuddy be willing (this is an unspecified bribery offer) to part
with a copy of their blood and tears creation ?
We run mostly single or double sided cards ; on flash gold ; driving out all
manual (TH) bits currently .

What is the experience with (which?) IPC guidelines ; how dated is what ;
any wonder news ? (arrow pads narrowing under to eliminate balls ; new
reliability oriented decreased pad sizes) ; etc.
What is the >current = next decade< status ?
Any training ; handling and flow trends ?

Thanks A lot for the help

PS
Notes on paste dispensing design utilization's especially appreciated .
