Hi Peter!

That is a good question...didn't think to ask about that while we were
talking about it. Did talk about it going to a "moderated" list and why that
would be such a huge undertaking. Even though all the messages are reviewed by
Hugo to respond to people who are having trouble unsubscribing (I'm sure ya'll
have one of those messages a time or two), he does that after the fact because
the TechNet server handles message traffic in quantities of over of 200,000
emails a day...that may at first seem like an inflated number, but once you
realise that for every message sent in, 1700 +/- 300 (hehehe) are then sent
out...dat' be one busy server! Back when we didn't have the confirmation,
there were a few occasions that certain groups did use this list to spam
everyone, the biggest thing that caused theTechNet to go to the confirmation
was because of the Porn spam...some people get pretty offended by that stuff.
But like I said, Jack does understand the frustration. There have been times
that I haven't got my "ok" confirmation for hours and hours, and sometimes
people just don't have the time to wait forever to respond...the list misses
out on what could be some very valuable information. Believe me, Jack
understands and they will come up with something, hopefully pretty soon.
