Hey Ya'll!

Just flew in from the Expo, and boy are my arms tired! (hey! what's all the
booing and hissing about? Okay, okay...I know that joke's pretty
stale...hehehe) I actually survived, only got slammed about 50-times about my
math skills (or lack thereof), no suprise there, I was expecting it...(GRIN)

Almost took a suggestion that Graham Collins sent me to show up with a big
calculator, a ESD cape with superman's "S" logo on it, a bottle of ta-kill-ya,
a shot glass, and some lime and salt, and let er' rip. Was thinking of
subsituting the ta-kill-ya with Jaegermeister (nectar of the gods, or Vicks
formula-44 gone bad, depending on your point of view), but I used my better
judgement and figured if I was gonna get crucified I wanted to be
sober...hehehe.

Didn't have a whole lot of people show up, it was pretty hard to compete with
another free session that was going on at the same time; "Getting the Lead out
of Electronics; Is it feasible, Cost Effective, or Even Warranted?" Heck, if I
didn't have to be at my session, I woulda' been there. Werner was there on the
panel, along with Dave Hillman, Jerry Cupples, and Ed Gosper (glad there was
some smart guys there, took all the heat offa me). Got to meet Bev Christian
finally, and was able to apologize to him face to face about thinking he was a
girl when I first responded to one of his posts quite a while ago.

All in all, it was a lot less painless than I thought it would be...really fun
actually. We did discuss the confirmation thing and Jack does understand our
frustration with this. They are going to work on coming up with some kind of
solution. The biggest reason the list is the way it is is because of
"Spam"...and by running the list the way they do, IS pretty effective to
combat that stuff. But there is some hope on the horizon to change the way we
have to "ok" our posts the way we do. Oh, one other thing, I know there has
been some times that I have wondered if the TechNet server is working okay,
and here's something you can do to verify that it is.

First off, the server responds within 30-90 seconds after it recieves an
email. Any other lengthy delay that you experience is due to the 'NET traffic
elsewhere. But what you can do is send a email to: [log in to unmask] and in the
message body, tell the server: Thank You. If everything is working, you'll get
a email back from the server saying: You're Welcome! By doing it that way, the
communication is only between you and the server instead of all 2000....er
ahh, I mean 1770 members...hehehe.
